Refinish My Door
About Refinish My Door
We refinish doors. That is the whole business, and it is why we are good at it.
For 15+ years we have stripped, repaired, stained and sealed doors at customers' homes across Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. Wood, fiberglass and wrought iron. On site, usually in a day, with a one-year written warranty.
Why On-Site Instead of a Workshop
Most companies that refinish doors take them away. That means your home stands open behind a sheet of plywood for several days, and your door takes two trips in a truck.
We work at your house with the door on its hinges wherever the job allows. It takes more skill and better dust control, but nothing leaves your property and nothing gets damaged in transit. It is also why a single entry door is usually a one-day job rather than a one-week one.
A Specialist, Not a General Contractor
Painters paint. Handymen do a bit of everything. Neither spends their week learning how mahogany takes stain differently from fir, or why a south-facing door needs more topcoats than the one around the corner.
That specialization is the difference between a door that looks good in the photo and a door that still looks good in three years.
Where We Work
Northern Virginia is home base, and we work across the District and into Montgomery, Howard and Anne Arundel counties in Maryland. We regularly travel out to Middleburg, Purcellville, Warrenton and Annapolis for full-entry projects.
If your town is not on our list, ask anyway. The drive is usually not the deciding factor.
How We Price
We publish our ranges, which almost nobody in this market does. A single entry door runs $550 to $1,400, double or French doors $950 to $2,200, and a wood garage door $1,200 to $3,200.
Where you land inside a range depends on size, whether both sides are done, and how much repair the wood needs. You get an itemized written number before anyone touches your door, and it does not move afterwards.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, and we are happy to send documentation before we start work. Ask when we quote and we will include it rather than waiting to be chased. If you are in a community that requires a certificate of insurance naming the HOA, tell us early and we will arrange it.
How do I get a price?
Text your number through any form on this site, or call (202) 979-9977. We text you straight back and ask for a photo of the door and your city. Most quotes are answered the same day. There is no in-home visit required to get a realistic number, though we are happy to come out for a complicated opening.
Do you work with HOAs and property managers?
Yes. Multi-door work for communities and buildings is straightforward for us because everything happens on site, which means no unit is left open. We can price a whole building or phase it. Ask for a schedule and we will put one together rather than quoting door by door.
What if my door is in a historic district?
That is common in Old Town Alexandria, Georgetown, Capitol Hill and several Maryland districts. Restoration is generally treated differently from replacement, since restoring keeps the original door. Rules vary by board, so confirm with yours before scheduling, and we will work to whatever they specify.
